Hi, I am Barrie Smith

Starting in 2004, I’ve been working since Google Ads (then AdWords) was in its early stages and I’ve been through all the changes since. I’ve seen lots of different strategies come and go and over the years as well as the numerous changes in the platforms, such as Google introducing Performance Max (Pmax) campaigns, YouTube being created, overseeing the changes in ad types and strategies on Facebook/Meta, and everything in between.

The first 14 years of my career were spent at marketing agencies, managing large clients, training staff and winning awards, before becoming a Freelance PPC Expert in 2018. 

I now have 20 years’ experience in delivering profitable Google Ads, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Amazon, Bing & LinkedIn campaigns.

This includes experience in a wide range of sectors, including the competitive gaming, travel and finance industries. I have a strong working knowledge of tools and am on top of the latest methods and strategies to use as part of a successful campaign.

Budgets have varied over the years, and to this day I continue to work with a variety of clients, from your one man band, to blue chip companies and international brands spending 7 figures a year on paid media.

Barrie Smith is a highly-experienced freelance PPC expert with over 20 years’ experience. Having built his first Google AdWords campaign from his bedroom in the early 2000s, Barrie took his first job in the industry in 2004. At this time the marketplace was very different, YouTube and Facebook didn’t even exist at this time.

Barrie’s first PPC role was working at a small digital marketing agency based in Flitwick, Bedfordshire.

Prior to going freelance in 2018, Barrie played a leading role in a number of PPC campaign awards won for agencies.

Barrie Smith’s extensive portfolio includes including the competitive gaming, travel and finance industries, to one man bands and blue chip companies. He has worked with the likes of Betfair, Selfridges and WhatHouse.

My goal after leaving school was to work in marketing. I have worked in online marketing ever since.

I was pivotal in expanding the team at agencies I have worked for prior to building a personal brand.

95%+ of the PPC campaigns I have worked on have been a success. That’s Google, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. combined.

I’ve worked with small budgets to 7-figure annual marketing budgets. Making both profitable all the same.
